We often see our elders suffering from knee pain.
π Despite taking medicines day and night, they do not get proper relief. Simple activities like bending the knees, standing up, sitting down, or walking become painful. Sometimes the pain is so severe that they cannot sleep properly, and swelling also appears in the knees. With increasing age, bone and joint-related problems tend to rise.
π€ Deep oil massage on the painful area can provide significant relief.
Using a good-quality oil and massaging continuously for about 20 minutes helps improve blood circulation in the muscles, reduces pain, and decreases swelling. Regular oil massage is considered very effective for joint and knee pain.
π€ Applying hot and cold compresses is another effective way to reduce joint and knee pain.
π For a hot compress, wrap a hot water bottle in a towel and apply it to the affected knee.
π For a cold compress, wrap ice cubes in a towel and gently apply to the painful area.
Apply the compress for 2β3 minutes continuously, and repeat the process for 15β20 minutes.
Do this twice a day until you feel relief. An electric heating pad can also be used for fomentation.
